CARBS & AIRBOX


Realised tonight that before I could fit the battery-carrier, I had to fit the airbox, so I decided to do that along with the carbs. I had to take the back wheel off again to make room for the airbox. It all went back together without a hitch, a curse or a scuff. Before fitting the carbs, I applied a coating of AFC-50 Corrosion Block Grease to all the various bars, rods, cams and attachments to prevent them rusting, cos they're a bugger to reach once the carbs are in situ, and tend to get ignored during normal maintenance work.

Biggest problem tonight was finding the right bloody bolts. I thought I'd catalogued everything?!?!

Since taking the above photo, I've been back in the garage and fitted the battery-carrier. I'm quite enjoying these 60-minute stints in the garage each night!

Also finished the seat off tonight. Previously, I'd removed the leather cover, prepped the base and painted it black. Tonight I refitted the cover and it looks pretty good.




Tomorrow night is dog-training though.....

Glad to see you are back at it, I was wondering what had happened to you. I am still plodding along with myt referb. I am having the same problem with which bolts go where! I am soend a lot of time looking at the CMS online micro fisch which is a grat help.

Is cmsnl better than david silver and are the parts genuine honda parts? iv only ever used david silver for genuine honda parts.

I've used both companies and found them both to be reliable and reputable. Genuine or Pattern parts are always clearly identified. DS is no doubt cheaper than CMSNL, but if they've got something DS hasn't got, I'll pay the slight premium.

That John Oldfield store is a great place for bits isn't it? Mind you, since getting the CB450 I've done nothing but spend time stripping it down trying to get the damned thing running perfectly. I have a Blog about it on http://cb450k1.blogspot.com

The little puppy is now 6 months old and not the slightest bit "little" LOL. She's still adoreable though and yes, fully house-trained. And mad as a hatter!

Well the bug has really got me now, I have just bought a 550 Four from a guy at work for 200 quid so thats the next project sorted, though I am not sure where I am going to keep it! The wife is not very happy but at least it will keep me out of her way for a little longer.

Your 450 is a great looking bike and so is your old 550 maybe I can get mine looking like that.
