IT'S DEAD! IT'S DEAD!

Well, my rejoicing soon came to and end when I discovered (enroute to the MOT station) that the bike won't pull beyond 5000 revs. It starts to cough and splutter and die until the revs drop back down. This is normally because the high circuit of the alternator (the blue wire) has failed. So I checked the voltages (white and blue circuits) and found them both to be producing healthy AC voltages which increased with revs. Checked the timing with a strobe and it was out slightly so it's looking like the CDI has gone kaput! Damn!!! New CDI ordered. MOT postponed.
