BEFORE #33

Originally, I intended rechroming the front mudguard, but it's in pretty bad shape, with some bad kinks and rot, so I ended up getting this one from fleabay. Really didn't want to, but little choice. Someone suggested fitting one of those pattern replacement parts but they look bloody awful (apologies to those who have them).

Hi

I am having an awful time trying to find a new front mudguard. I was going to rechrome the one off the bike until i got it off and saw the rot enderneath. Do you have any suggestions? Iv tried ebay with no luck. Iv heeard cx500 ones may fit?

Good mudguards are like trustworthy politicians - RARE!!! You can either keep searching for a genuine one on Ebay (preferred) or you can buy a brand new pattern copy from http://www.davidsilverspares.co.uk/parts/pattern-parts/part_52745/ for £27 + VAT.

Personally (as I've said previously), I don't like the look of the pattern one, but you can't argue with the cost.

Oh yes, the CX500 front fender will fit too.

Hi

It would fit but after studying pics Iv noticed that the cx500 front fender is abit deeper than the superdream one, superdream is slimmer. Iv just perchased a original 1980 one from the usa of all places for £36, listed as a CB400T hawk, its abit on the rusty side but might rechrome ok.
Always abit of a risk buying from a picture though, or well you only live once.

Do they look really squared off?

Yes that's right Dan, they're squared off on the mounting brackets. The one I bought came from America too, although I got it through a third party Ebayer who buys lots from there. Well done. Hope it turns out okay.
