If you ever fancy refurbing a bike, you must get yourself a bench-grinder with a wire-wheel. It saves soooo much time stripping things back to bare metal, like this grubby side-stand. As for that rusty old fender, well I simply used a wire-wheel attachment on my cordless drill to get rid of the bulk of the rust and lingering paint, before giving it a soak in patio cleaner. Then it'll be a case of applying some etch-primer to the bare metal before finishing with the final coats of paint.
